Every day is Earth Day at Winder Dairy

All-natural milk in earth-friendly bottles (press release)
4/12/2005

WEST VALLEY CITY — April 12, 2005— For the past 125 years, Winder Dairy, Utah’s oldest dairy, has operated under the philosophy that “every day is Earth Day.” In fact, Winder’s core business platform is the delivery of all-natural milk in earth-friendly, returnable milk jugs.

“Our customers drink more than two million containers worth of milk each year. That’s enough to fill the Delta Center nearly 100 times,” said Mike Winder, Vice President of Marketing at Winder Dairy. “We are proud to say that every one of those containers is recycled, which makes for a lot of milk jugs that don’t end up in the landfills.”

As part of its effort to better the community and the earth, Winder Dairy uses returnable bottles made of polycarbonate, which are sanitized and reused more than 100 times.

In addition, Winder does its part to keep its customers and dairy cows healthy. By not injecting their dairy cows with the artificial growth hormone rBST, Winder keeps its milk all-natural, which is great for both the cows producing the milk and the customers drinking it.

As part of Earth Day 2005, celebrated on April 22, Winder Dairy urges its customers and the community to renew their efforts to help save the Earth. Winder Dairy wants to emphasize that every little action to help save the Earth can make a difference.

“Everyone can celebrate Earth Day by spreading the word about recycling, planting a tree, starting a compost pile, encouraging your neighborhood to grow gardens, picking up litter, carpooling to work and saving energy whenever possible,” said Winder.

Earth Day, founded in 1970, promotes environmental citizenship and encourages people to take action worldwide to help save the Earth and the environment. The week leading up to Earth Day has been designated Earth Week.

Winder Dairy hopes that you celebrate Earth Day this year. For more information on Winder Dairy please call 1-800-WINDER1 or www.winderdairy.com.
