MISSION: Build Healthy Communities Through Great Food

Winder Farms improves lives by hand delivering great tasting, locally sourced, farm fresh food right to our customers’ doorsteps. When the food they love comes to them, customers can spend more time pursuing their passions and less time at the grocery store. The result is a stronger community filled with happier people eating better.

Partners

Winder Farms has been partnering with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® since 2012 to help in the fight against breast cancer. Each year, Winder Farms holds an annual Strawberry Milk for the Cure fundraiser to benefit the Utah and Southern Nevada affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. During May – October (Breast Cancer Awareness month), a portion of the proceeds from all Winder Farms Strawberry Milk sold are donated to the local affiliate. We also had the opportunity to provide apples, cookies, and strawberry milk to breast cancer survivors in the Survivor Café at the Salt Lake City Race for the Cure event for the past several years.

Since 2009, Winder Farms has been helping Junior Achievement toward their goal of teaching kids about business and free enterprise through hands on learning. Winder Farms employees volunteer to teach classes, to participate in Junior Achievement City events, and to serve on the local Junior Achievement Board of Directors. Winder Farms has also sponsored the 5k Fun Run in Utah for the past four years. Junior Achievement helps turn the kids of today into entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Initiated by the Winder Farms sales team, the Make-A-Wish partnership began in 2013. The sales team set a goal to raise a certain amount in one day and challenged Winder Farms management to pitch in if they met the goal. The sales team members not only hit the goal, but doubled it! As a result, Winder Farms raised enough to sponsor a child’s wish and presented Make-a-Wish with a check at the Winder Farms holiday party. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition and believes that wishes make life better for these kids.

Since 2012, Winder Farms has been partnering with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to aid in their mission – Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Each year Winder Farms sponsors a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner rewarding volunteers for their contributions to the organization with a tasty meal provided by Winder Farms, prepared by chefs from Stratosphere Hotel & Casino, and served by scouts as they work to earn their Dinner Party badge. Winder Farms also participates in the annual World of Girls Expo and Thin Mint Sprint & Shortbread Shuffle.

Starting in 2015, Winder Farms is proud to join with Utah’s own in their mission to help residents of Utah find quality products, protect the environment, and strengthen Utah’s economy.

Local

One of our largest community initiatives is in partnering with local food banks. At Winder Farms, we are passionate about delivering fresh, delicious food to our customers. We are equally passionate about helping the communities we serve and have found local food banks to be strong community partners who allow us to share our food with those who are in need. We donate food through a variety of ways, including an annual turkey drive and by enabling our customers to setup weekly donation amounts to their local food bank. Winder Farms employees also engage by volunteering time with the food banks. Below is additional information on each of our food bank partners.

Founded in 1904, Utah Food Bank has operated under various names but has always remained true to its mission of Fighting Hunger Statewide. 472,000 Utahns are at risk of missing a meal today; even more alarming is that 1 in 5 Utah kids are unsure where their next meal is coming from. In 2013, Utah Food Bank distributed over 36 million pounds of food (equivalent to 28 million meals) to people facing hunger, utilizing a statewide network of 130 partner agencies and food pantries.

Established in 2007 to provide hunger relief, Three Square Food Bank offers wholesome, nutritious food to non-profit and faith-based organizations, schools and feeding sites that serve a wide range of Southern Nevadans, serving hope to those struggling with hunger. Three Square currently provides more than 30 million pounds of food (25 million meals) per year to more than 600 Program Partners. Three Square is a member of the Feeding America network of food banks

Founded in 1964, the Community Action Partnership of Orange County has a mission to enhance the quality of life in Orange County by eliminating and preventing the causes and effects of poverty by mobilizing and directing resources to programs that assist, educate and promote self-sufficiency. The Food Bank portion of the organization distributes over 19 million pounds of food to over 1.3 million low-income individuals annually, including 426,000 pounds of fresh produce.

Green Initiatives

Bottles

Our milk not only tastes delicious in glass bottles, but it helps save the environment. In 2013, Winder Farms customers drank over 2.7 million bottles of milk from our reusable glass and plastic containers. That’s the equivalent of 2.3 million feet of plastic, or 1,820 Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other!

Bags

The convenience of home delivery also means fewer plastic bags going from the grocery store to people’s homes and then to the landfill. In one year, Winder Farms home delivery saved enough plastic bags from the landfill to cover 20,000 football fields in length.

Miles Driven

Not only do our customers get to enjoy extra free time by saving a weekly trip to the store, but they also reduce miles driven. One Winder Farms route can efficiently remove up to 150 individual round trips to the grocery store, allowing 1 truck to keep 150 cars off the road.

Local Sourcing

Whenever possible, Winder Farms sources products locally to the markets we serve. This reduces the carbon footprint of the products we sell and the service we provide. And it means a fresher product, which tastes better.

Environmental Awareness

We’re taking steps company wide to reduce our impact on the environment. From volunteering at local gardens to changing our office water delivery to a tank-less system we’re constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact.
